    • especially on men + boys, long sleeves may look dressier + classic

    • for example, avoid polo or golf shirts; opt for long-sleeve button-down or button-up shirts

  • avoid t-shirts (short or long sleeve)

    • may be too casual + inexpensive looking

  • avoid bulky or oversized clothes

    • slim fitting or tailored clothing may be more flattering

  • avoid sweatshirts

    • may be too casual

    • slip on a knit sweater instead

  • avoid outdoor jackets (including winter jackets, leather jackets, or hoodies)

    • unless during outdoor winter shoot + everyone is wearing them

    • instead stay warm by layering a knit sweater over a button-up shirt or blouse

    • may be too casual/sloppy

  • avoid black pants with white socks

  • avoid dresses or skirts that are too short

    • the most universally flattering skirt or dress length is just above or just below, or at the knee

shoes

  • avoid black shoes with white socks

    • try matching your socks to either your pants or your shoes

  • avoid athletic shoes (like runners, trainers, or sneakers)

    • may be too casual

    • go for a loafer or boat shoe instead

  • avoid athletic/velcro sandals or crocs

    • may be too casual
