make a solid choice

Stumped about what to wear to your portrait session?

Clothing in a richly saturated solid colour will make your professional headshot standout.

Start with dress (such as a shift, A-line, or fit + flare), a button-up shirt, or dressy blouse.

If shots will include your full body, pair your button-up or blouse with dress pants or a knee-length skirt (such as a pencil, A-line, or flare) + dress shoes.

For a more formal look, layer a blazer or suit jacket over top.

Other suggestions to keep in mind:

  • think classy + timeless

  • clothes should fit well

  • keep classic jewelry to a minimum

  • clothes should be clean + unwrinkled

  • the darker the colour, the more formal the look

  • a more tailored silhouette appears more polished

  • avoid anything that may distract or date your photo

We’ll discuss which looks are best on you during your pre-session wardrobe consultation, included in every photoshoot.

Feel free to bring a change of clothing to give yourself options.
